Today is the National Day of Lithuania in the global exhibition EXPO 20172017-06-23
Today, the delegation of our country headed by the Minister of Environment Kęstutis Navickas used Lithuanian scooters to come to the Lithuanian pavilion in the global exhibition EXPO 2017 taking place in Astana, the capital city of Kazakhstan, which became the main vehicle for guides in the pavilion. The delegation flew to Astana to take part in the events of the National Day of Lithuania. The 23rd of June was announced as the day of Lithuania in the calendar of national days of EXPO 2017.
The day was officially started by national anthems of Kazakhstan and Lithuania performed by the New Ideas Chamber Orchestra (NICO) headed by Gediminas Gelgotas. The visitors also applauded much to the musical linkup of the orchestra and performers in Lithuania specially created for this exhibition.
The Minister Kęstutis Navickas, welcoming the visitors, emphasized that it was important to use as much renewable energy sources as possible and to apply green technologies in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and meet climate change reduction obligations. Participants of the National Day were welcomed on behalf of the host country by the EXPO 2017 Commissioner Rapil Zhoshybayev, who has worked for a number of years in the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Vilnius. He noted that both the countries have been successfully developing diplomatic and economic relations for already 25 years.
In the Lithuanian pavilion, official delegations and guests are met by a team of guides dressed for the occasion. The central space of the pavilion holds an impressive structure of LED lights connected by 12 km of cables. The surrounding screens introduce the main facts about our country, the development of the energy sector and ensuring energy independence as the main topic of EXPO 2017 is energy of the future. Visitors paid most attention to the virtual reality video collection and the zone of interactive games.
The events of the National Day will continue into the evening. The NICO orchestra will perform not only in the pavilion but also in the National University of Arts of Kazakhstan, whereto it was invited by the Rector of the university, the world-famous violin player Aiman Mussakhajayeva.
