Expanding mineral water extraction in Lithuania

Our country is rich in underground mineral water resources, and the extraction of mineral water continues to increase. According to the Lithuanian Geological Survey under the Ministry of Environment (LGS), more than 134,000 m3 of underground mineral water was produced last year, i.e. 10 % more than in the previous year.

In 2006, a total of 15 companies were engaged in the extraction of mineral water resources. In total, there are 32 companies which have been issued permits for these activities by the LGS. The top five companies engaged in the extraction of mineral water resources include Neptūno Vandenys, Minera, Akvavita, Baltijos Mineralinių Vandenų Kompanija, and Druskininkai recreation and health centre Aqua.
