Kyrgyzstan learning urban planning from Lithuania2017-04-10
Today, the Ministry of Environment has received representatives of the World Bank and the Ministry of Economy and other authorities of the Kyrgyz Republic. The delegation has arrived to get familiar with the Lithuanian spatial planning system and urban policy and draw on examples of good practice.
The Lithuanian planning system includes three types of plans: spatial planning documents, regional development plans and strategic plans. The most relevant question for the colleagues from Kyrgyzstan was the way in which Lithuania has shifted from separate sector planning systems towards a more unified planning system, and the changes planned for the future.
At the meeting the members of the delegation were introduced to Lithuania’s spatial planning on national and regional level and its urban growth on national and local level, as well as to the certification of architects, the issuance of architects’ qualification certificates and the recognition in Lithuania of architects’ professional qualification acquired abroad.
