Investments into renovation mount over half a billion euros

2016-08-01

According to the latest information of the Housing Energy Efficiency Agency, implementing the Multi-Apartment Building Renovation Programme has already resulted in the modernisation of 1084 buildings for a total investment amount of EUR 266 mln. At present almost 800 building renovation projects totalling EUR 245 mln. are in progress. Thus more than EUR 0.5 bln. has been invested in the programme over the three years.

In July alone the Šiauliai Bank signed 90 agreements on the funding of multi-apartment building renovation projects worth EUR 28 mln. ‘The SEB Bank is to join the funding programme in the near future, so executing loan agreements for a total of EUR 200 mln. is expected shortly,’ claims Vice-Minister of Environment Daiva Matonienė.

Evaluating the programme implementation results in individual municipalities, since 2013 the largest number of multi-apartment buildings has been renovated in Ignalina (75 houses), followed by Vilnius (65), Klaipėda and Kaunas (60 in each municipality), Druskininkai (44), Molėtai (39), Tauragė (38), Jonava and Kaunas distr. (33 in each municipality) and Alytus (32).

According to the Vice-Minister of Environment, the Multi-Apartment Building Renovation Programme has already gained the required momentum. ‘Our main goal is to continue keeping a similar pace, following a responsible assessment of the available capacity, finances and other resources of subcontractors. The number of houses where construction works have been launched is approaching 2000. This shows the intensive pace of renovation. Another phase will be renovation by housing estates. The Ministry of Environment is making every effort to have this programme implemented in Lithuania with success’, says D. Matonienė.

The Ministry of Environment will shortly organise training for municipalities to present the specific features of the development and implementation of renovation by housing estates, funding options, etc.
