Designers only allowed using licensed software2016-07-27
The Construction Technical Regulation ‘Structural design’ amended by an order of the Minister of Environment will restrict possibilities for dishonest businessman even more: from now on, they will not be able to use illegal design software.
Work with design software gives a competitive advantage to an architect or a designer, enabling them to make precise calculations and propose several design options of a structure to the builder, for example, an economically more attractive building design with a smaller initial estimate but larger energy consumption in the future, or an ecological solution saving heat energy resources.
The Construction Technical Regulation ‘Structural design’ has been amended by the order of the Minister of Environment of 25 July to include a provision that licensed design software must be used for preparing a building design. In addition, in the general part of a building design the designer will be obligated to present a list of licensed design software used for developing the design by the constituent parts of the building technical design.
According to the Lithuanian Association of Design Companies, more than a half of design software used in Lithuania is illegal, which is damaging to other building designers and distorts fair business conditions.
