Representatives of all the EU Member States have gathered in Vilnius to tackle the issues of energy performance of buildings2016-06-07
Las week, Vilnius hosted experts and scientists in energy performance of buildings gathered from all 28 Member States of the European Union, as well as Norway, who discussed perspectives for enhanced energy performance of buildings, related issues and latest events.
Back in 2005, the European Commission in charge of implementation of the Directive of the European Parliament and the Council of Energy Performance of Buildings initiated and started out a project under title of EPBD Concerted Action I. The project involves annual conferences hosted by different cities across the EU, lasting 2 days. The conference of EPBD Concerted Action I hosted in Vilnius in 2016 listed nearly 130 participants.
The event largely concentrated on buildings requiring no energy at all and development of this type of buildings. Representatives from Denmark, Norway, Bulgaria and Poland presented some informative studies in this respect. The conference further presented some district-level energy efficiency measures, as well as strategies and accomplishments in the field of building renovation.
The European Commission uses this project as an opportunity to urge the Member States of the EU to exchange their expertise and skills, gain new experience on implementation of the Directive of Energy Performance of Buildings, discover most efficient legal wording and shape this crucial energy efficiency policy on the EU level.
