The Minister of Environment meeting the ambassador of Georgia2016-03-29
Today, Kęstutis Trečiokas, the Minister of Environment, met with Khatuna Salukvadze, the ambassador of Georgia.
The ambassador, sticking to the key purpose of the meeting, extended an invitation to the minister to attend the 8th conference of the ministers of the environment entitled Environment for Europe (Aplinka Europai), hosted in Batumi on 8 to 10 June 2016. Ambassador K. Salukvadze also expressed her content with the cooperation involving Lithuania and Georgia, which was even more enhanced after the first meeting of the intergovernmental board of Lithuania and Georgia held in Vilnius in 2015.
According to the ambassador, “May will mark the 25th anniversary of the independence of Georgia. This period of quarter of a century certainly worked for the better of the country. Georgia attracts numerous tourists from Lithuania and we expect this number to grow, once visas will no longer be required since June 2016. Our national priority currently is the integration into the EU, as well as implementing the association agreement between the EU and Georgia. Cooperation with Lithuania is crucial for us. We are keen to cooperate in the scope of environmental projects and count on your technical and expert assistance in the field of environment“.
Speaking at the meeting, the Minister of Environment expressed his happiness with the progress demonstrated by Georgia and stressed his readiness to cooperate with Georgia in the field of environment and climate change.
