2015-05-06

Services of the Ministry of Environment provided by electronic means are popular with users who find them attractive. In the second half of 2014, the Ministry’s portal epaslaugos.am. saw more than 1 million visitors showing their interest in different e-services.

“Public demand for different services online is constantly growing. The environmental field is no exception here. The opportunity to receive various publications and access information without leaving one’s home has also increased the need for improvement. We will continue to develop e-services and the portal epaslaugos.am.lt that unites them, said Robertas Klovas, Chancellor of the Ministry of Environment.

The most popular e-service of the Ministry of Environment is ALIS, a system of angling, mineral resource and other environmental permits. The system registered over 800,000 users in six months.

The second most frequented system is the protected species information system, SRIS. More than 13,000 internet users showed their interest in it over half a year. Users of this e-service can receive, provide and verify information on protected species, their habitats and locations they are found in.
One more e-service of an agency of the Ministry of Environment is the river, lake and reservoir cadastre, UETK, which saw about 12,000 visitors over six months.

According to Gediminas Grigaliūnas, head of the Information Technology Division of the Ministry of Environment, the main purpose of the electronic services provided is to develop the unified environmental sector e-services portal epaslaugos.am.lt. This unified portal needs to be improved for the reason that until now people have more often searched for information and necessary services on separate e-services portals of the Ministry and its agency.
