New website for the upcoming EXPO 20152015-02-18
Highlights of Lithuania’s preparations for the world EXPO 2015 in Milan, Italy, will now be posted on a new special website at www.2015expo.lt. It was developed by the Ministry of Environment, which is running the introduction of our country at such expos for the sixth time already (this year in co-operation with the Ministry of Agriculture).
The website provides detailed updates in Lithuanian, English and Italian about the Lithuanian pavilion, competitions to select staff and guides for the pavilion, the display area with the prevailing theme of Lithuanian cuisine in response to the main theme of the whole EXPO 2015 – “Feed the planet, energy for life”, events of the Expo, etc.
The Milan exhibition will run for half a year – from 1 May through 31 October. Its participants will include about 150 states and major international organisations. Like almost half of other participants, Lithuania will have its own pavilion. According to Romas Jankauskas, the commissioner general of Lithuania’s exposition at EXPO 2015, who is also the head of the Exhibition Unit of the Ministry of Environment, it is now under construction on a 11.5-are land plot next to the Expo’s main alley. The pavilion will feature two display halls, a conference room, office facilities, a Lithuanian cuisine restaurant, a bar and a shop.
Twenty million people are expected to visit the Expo over its six months of operation. This time EXPO returns to Europe after a more lengthy break as the three previous ones were hosted by Japan, China and South Korea.
