2014-05-23

Tomorrow the new postage stamp inviting to save the Baltic Sea and the philatelic set on this subject will be put into circulation. The idea for such postage stamp was offered by the ecological project “Green Code” initiated by Radvilė Morkūnaitė-Mikulėnienė, Member of the European Parliament, to which the Ministry of Environment is also a partner.

Lithuania was the first among the three Baltic States to release a postage stamp dedicated to the Baltic Sea. The competition for the design of this stamp announced by the “Green Code” project and Lithuania Post was won by the artistic solution offered by Martyna Stasiulionytė.
The new postage stamp inviting to save the Baltic Sea marks a very painful problem – the Baltic Sea is one of the most contaminated seas in the world.
