Ecological buses obtained through the sale of pollution permits roll out into the capital's streets2014-04-29
Today, on April 29th, new ecological city uses will be presented to the public at the Vilnius City Municipality that were obtained using funds from the Climate Change Special Program administered by the Ministry of Environment. It is hoped that the twenty compressed-natural-gas-driven “Castrosua City Versus CNG” buses and one “Castrosua Tempus Hybrid” hybrid bus will begin transporting the capital's residents and guests by the end of this week. By September, nine commuter transportation companies throughout the nation (in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Panevėžys, Marijampolė, Telšiai, Ukmergė and Elektrėnai) will receive a total of 93 similar buses.
These ecological public transportation vehicles were purchased using the Climate Change Special Program. They were purchased with funds obtained in 2011, when Lithuania sold the set greenhouse gas limit units that it had been given. The funds received were set to be used to obtain ecological public transportation and to install biofuel boilers.
