Every effort is being made to modernize apartment buildings2013-06-05
The leaders of the nation's construction organizations and representatives of Lithuanian builders' associations and other construction sector groups gathered at the Ministry of Environment today to discuss questions regarding the implementation of the Apartment building modernization and renewal program.
Minister of Environment Valentinas Mazuronis indicated that the construction sector was making every effort to renovate apartment buildings and that the best way to identify and solve any problems was through close cooperation. “The nation's construction organizations must prepare for modernisation work. The demand for such renovations will increase as the renovation project reaches a larger and larger scale. We must assemble qualified builders here in Lithuania so that we don't have to invite them from abroad,” - said the Minister.
Valius Serbenta, director of the Home Energy Efficiency Agency, introduced the meeting's participants to the new Apartment building modernisation and renewal program model, as well as its essential conditions and processes.
Rolandas Černiauskas, director of the Central Purchasing Organization (CPO), offered detailed information about the purchase of construction and renovation services through the CPO. This institution offered an additional purchase organization alternative – a dynamic purchasing system that would allow both providers and purchasing organizations to save a great deal of time and money and ensure qualified and quality services. The many participants gathered at the meeting were interested in various elements of the renovation process. Not only were their questions answered, but they also had the opportunity to exchange contacts and form cooperative agreements.
“This was the first meeting to gather the nation's construction organizations' representatives on such a broad scale. Our goal is to unite all of their efforts so that the apartment building renovation process would proceed as quickly as possible. We don't want the renovations to be done in a 'governmental' way – they should be done the same way that we would want them to be done for ourselves. We emphasized the importance of quality and durability to the construction organizations gathered. Together, we will find the best ways to make this massive apartment building reconstruction program a reality,” - said Vice-minister of Environment Daiva Matonienė.
