The new vice ministers of Environment Almantas Petkus and Linas Jonauskas2012-12-20
Today Almantas Petkus and Linas Jonauskas started acting as the vice ministers of Environment of Lithuania.
36 year old Almantas Petkus originating from Telšiai will coordinate waste, pollution prevension, water and EU support administration sectors. The new viceminister has graduated from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University and has managerial experience in several companies and professional political experience. In 2007 he was elected the Mayor of Telšiai District Municipality and in 2008 he was elected a member of the Seimas. Working in the Parliament, he was a member of the committee of environment, was interested in renewable energy development opportunities and experience of other countries in this area. In his spare time he likes travelling, reading, trying new recipes.
Born in Mažeikiai the 33 year old Linas Jonauskas will coordinate the sectors of environmental protection, forestry, protective territories and landscape. The new viceminister has been actively participating in public activities from school times. He studied at Vilnius Pedagogical University and worked as an assistant to several members of the Seimas: 2007-2008 he was the counsellor of the primer minister regarding youth policy and from 2008 he worked as an assistant to the member of the Seimas Gediminas Kirkilas. One of his most important spare time activities is fishing.
