Management of Biological Municipal Waste in the Baltic States was on the Agenda of an International Conference2011-12-02
Vilnius hosted an international conference to discuss management of biological municipal waste in the
Baltic states . The conference was attended by representatives of governmental, municipal and science institutions as well as representatives of business companies from these states.
Waste management experts from
Europe shared their approaches and practical experience. The discussions involved the current process of management of biological waste in the EU and the Baltic states, ways how to manage waste in the future, what impact the EU and national policies have on waste management and what the legal regulations are. Waste management technologies, financial opportunities and other issues were reviewed too.
The conference was organised by the Ministries of Environment of the Baltic states, the European Compost Network, the International Waste Association, JSC „Ekokonsultacijos“ and the Latvian Association of Waste Management.
