The Environmental Project Management Agency (EPMA) under the Ministry of the Environment has already disbursed a billion litas which were paid out from the funds of the EU assistance and the state budget for the implementation of environmental projects in the framework of the 2007-2013 Programme for the Promotion of Cohesion Actions. By the end of the year, this figure should approach 1.5 billion litas.
According to the director of the EPMA Kastytis Tuminas, the largest part of assistance is allocated for the sector of water resources management – almost 687 million litas have already been paid out for the implementation of projects in this sector while 148.4 million litas have been paid for the projects of waste management and 164.6 million litas – for other projects.
So far, the EPMA has already signed agreements for the amount of 3 billion litas to be disbursed for the implementation of projects financed according to the 2007-2013 Programme for the Promotion of Cohesion Actions. This amounts to 86.7 per cent of the entire amount envisaged for this period of support. The plan is for the EPMA to pay out, by the end of 2015, 3.5 billion litas of the EU assistance and co-financing funds of the 2007-2013 programming period.
