Weather forecasts become available on mobile phones

This month the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service under the Ministry of Environment started providing new services, namely weather forecasts for mobile Internet users. They are available at wap.meteo.lt. These services are currently provided free of charge.

Detailed information on weather is published on the website of the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service at www.meteo.lt. According to the Service director, Vida Augulienė, any Internet user can read weather forecasts for a specific day (night) or a month in Lithuania and in certain cities of the country, wind chill forecasts, information on snow cover thickness, digital weather forecasts, geostationary satellite MSG information, etc. at any time of the day.

Users of the new services receive information on forecasted weather temperature, cloud cover, precipitation, wind, formation of lightning or thunderstorms, as well as satellite pictures to their mobile phones. This information covers Lithuania, North European and Baltic countries.
