Pollution tax to be paid once a year
On 2 September, the Government changed the pollution tax rate indexation procedure in order to implement new provisions of the Law on Pollution Tax. Pursuant to these provisions, the tax on environmental pollution from mobile sources of pollution and on pollution form stationary sources of pollution must be paid once a year at the end of the calendar year, not every quarter or every six months (depending on the annual amount of tax paid) as before. Therefore, tax rates must be indexed once a year, not every quarter or every six months, according to the consumer goods and services price index calculated by Statistics Lithuania. It is provided for in the pollution tax rate indexation procedure changed by the Government.
