Georgian colleagues learn about our nature and forest protection practices2017-10-18
A delegation of Georgian foresters and environmentalists is visiting Lithuania this week. It is the second experience sharing aimed visit of the Georgian colleagues in the framework of the EU funded twinning project “Strengthening sustainable management of forests in Georgia” being implemented by the Ministry of the Environment and its partners.
The main objective of the visit, according to Nerijus Kupstaitis, head of the project and head of the Forest Economy Development Division of the Nature Protection and Forests Department of the Ministry of the Environment, is to familiarise with the organisation of state control of forests, forest protection and supervision, and wildlife protection control in Lithuania. The guests attended a presentation of our good practices in the field of nature and forest protection held in the State Forest Service and Vilnius Region Environmental Protection Department.
Tomorrow the Georgian delegation will visit Panevėžys State Forest Enterprise. The guests will learn about the practical aspects of the protection of state forests and visit Pailiai Wisent Breeding Reservoir. The results of the visit will be discussed on Friday in the Nature Protection and Forests Department.
