Joint actions for development of Lithuania-Poland border region territory2017-10-02
The 18th meeting of the Lithuania-Poland Cross-Border Cooperation Commission, which was held late last week in Marijampolė, was dedicated, inter alia, to issues connected with the activities of the commission’s Spatial Planning Working Group.
Rėda Brandišauskienė, head of the Spatial Planning Working Group and Vice-Minister of the Environment, provided an overview of the bilateral cooperation in this field and emphasised the importance of joint actions in the drafting of spatial planning documents intended for the development of the Lithuania-Poland border region territory. Experts from the institutions responsible for spatial planning of the two countries should exchange opinions and hold consultations, and these discussions should be based on the principles of mutuality and equality. Poland’s representatives supported this approach. The commission evaluated the unanimously supported proposals from the two countries and included them in its resolutions.
